It’s that time of year to dust off the cobwebs from your race cars or test out your new ones at our annual BMW Race Driver Series Pre-Season Shakedown Day. Held in conjunction with our Scholarship Day, this event not only allows our members to get their race cars out on track but also offers a valuable opportunity for The Motorsport Club to conduct essential, low-pressure training in a live environment.

Testing: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Driver’s briefing: 8:00 AM
There is the opportunity to drop vehicles/trailers off at the venue on Friday, 15 August. This will be strictly between 3pm-5pm. Be efficient and quick about it and please don’t turn up at the last minute!
For E46s required at the pre-season eligibility checks, cars and trailers may be kept at the circuit on Saturday night – down in the trailer parking area please.

Registration:
Participation is via application only. The BMW Race Driver Series reserves the right to decline any application. Competitors must have previously competed in the Series or be scheduled to compete in the upcoming season.
Session Details:
Three rotating sessions of twenty minutes each, organised by speed brackets. These brackets will be determined based on registrations received.
Price:
$195 per vehicle (includes one driver). Additional drivers are $40.
All drivers must be pre-registered and have process payment paid prior to the day.

Garage Hire:
If you’re wanting to hire a garage, we can confirm they are available as follows:
$300 per door (fits two vehicles end-to-end) or $160 per spot (fits one car only). Payments to be made to the BMW Race Driver Series as bove.

Vehicle Requirements:
Caged vehicles only (MotorSport NZ homologated cage, with log book). Transponders are compulsory and will be available to hire for $40. These are payable on the day only.
Vehicles taking passengers require a basic Safety Audit before the first ride. This informal audit will not be recorded in logbooks and serves as training for new scrutineers.
Driver Requirements:
Drivers must hold as a minimum either a NZ Civil (Restricted) driver’s licence, or a MotorSport NZ C Grade licence.
Safety Apparel
Both drivers and passengers must wear a minimum of a single layer fire-retardant race suit, helmet, FHR, fire-retardant shoes, and fire-retardant gloves are compulsory. No gear hire will be available on the day, as the small supply available has been reserved for or Scholarship Applicants.
Passenger Rides:
Testers are encouraged to provide passenger rides to our Scholarship Applicants throughout the day. Drivers will need to ensure that passengers are briefed on basic safety measures prior to the ride.
